Starburst Hex Pattern – Utah

We recently posted a bathroom to social media from Andrea West Design in Utah. The response was fantastic, as it should be! The design team took a cool kid’s bathroom that was tiny and cramped and turned it into a large open layout. What really got everyone’s attention was the highlight of the bathroom, the unique inlaid ceiling design.

Check out the before pictures above. It’s hard to imagine that this was even the same bathroom. The vision to design and execute this space is quite incredible. The new jack and jack space, for 2 boys, incorporated their love of color and pattern and natural wood tones.

Andrea West Design took our Starburst pattern and used in the most creative of ways. This handmade cement tile can be laid in a myriad of pattern combinations, but what was chosen fits the linear space perfectly.

The fully enclosed space contains both the shower and the beautiful freestanding bathtub. The cement tile completely surrounds the tub and is flanked by glossy, linear ceramic tile. The use of the two different materials allows the patterned cement tile to stand out as a highlighted design feature.

The pretty bathroom vanity transitions perfectly into the cool colors and tones of the adjoining kid’s bedroom. We love how the blues used in both spaces tie the rooms together. Even the live edge wood door is eye catching!

All in all, an amazing job by Andrea West Design. It’s easy to see why the bathroom is a social media favorite!

House Crashers – DIY Network

Who doesn’t love a good episode of House Crashers!

I know we do.

The hugely popular series, on the DIY Network, follows host Josh Temple as he tries to find a random customer at a home improvement store that will agree to take him to his/her house to help with a home project. After finding a “troubled” area of the home, Josh surprises the individual by agreeing to do a full remodel of the space. The project is then completed in a few short days with the help of the homeowner and friends.

We are thrilled that the show used our Bouquet II pattern in an episode of this season’s show. The episode is titled “Arched Mediterranean Kitchen” (Season 11, Episode 2) and follows a couple as they get a complete kitchen renovation. Our handmade cement tile is used on the kitchen backsplash to create a unique centerpiece for the space. The Bouquet cement tile pattern blends in perfectly with the new kitchen’s Mediterranean theme.

Check out the clip below or tune in to DIY for the whole episode.

Tulum featured on Curbly.com – Portland, Oregon

We are lucky to get some great mentions and posts on interior design, home, or architectural blogs. One of our favorite posts, featured here on Curbly.com, showed the amazing remodel of a bathroom in Portland, Oregon. The Deputy editor of Curbly, Capree Kimball, was pleased to share the pictures of her bathroom makeover and for that we are very thankful!

Capree wanted to gut the existing bathroom, but keep and feature the existing clawfoot tub. She was looking for bold “statement flooring” and fell in love with our Tulum cement tile pattern. The handmade cement tile really coordinates with the tub and the classic white subway wall tile.

Our Tulum cement tile pattern is in stock and can ship out immediately.

For those wondering what the bathroom looked like prior to the remodel, here is a before picture. We are biased, but think the project was a huge success!

Fireplace Remodel – San Antonio, TX

Sometimes, a little cement tile can go a long way!

These great pictures were sent to us by customers in Texas who were thrilled with how the custom handmade cement tile they chose really transformed the look of their fireplace hearth. They wanted to make the fireplace a beautiful feature in their living room that matched the charm of the rest of the room.

The old quarry tile was removed and replaced with a custom version of our Moorish Pattern. The customers loved the fact that they could change the colors to meet their needs. All of our tiles can be customized in the colors of your choice to match your decor or design idea.

Custom Kitchen Backsplash – Berkeley, CA

Lane McNab of Urban Orchard Interiors in Berekeley, CA loves to create beautiful and functional spaces that have a sense of authenticity, meaning and character to the people living there as well as the home itself. Lane was kind enough to share pictures from a recent installation of some of our handmade cement tiles.

The craftsman house involved in the project is over 100 years old. It’s a brown shingle craftsman very typical of the local homes and the owners are bringing it back to life little by little. The owners are both wonderful cooks (she’s French so of course!) and spend a lot of time in their well-used kitchen. The home was updated sometime in the 80’s and was ready for a serious face-lift. The clients wanted to incorporate a French/Moroccan style with the architectural elements of a craftsman. We think they succeeded!

Urban Orchard used our Algeria cement tile pattern, in custom colors, to create a beautiful backsplash in the kitchen. A doorway and closet were moved to make the stove and cement tile the kitchen’s focal point as you enter the room.

We’d like to thank Urban Orchard for the pictures. Please check out their blog!
