Cement Tile Shop Designers

Dana Berkowitz

Dana BerkowitzDana is the Founder and Creative Director of Hacienda Design Studio, a graphic and interior design firm whose main focus is creating modern designs for cement tile.

With degrees in English and French from Binghamton University, Dana began her career in the world of design at Pierre Frey, Inc. in NYC. Having developed a passion for beautifully designed spaces and luxurious home furnishings, she spent the next decade working at Waterworks in the heart of the NY Design District.

Throughout these years, Dana traveled the world extensively, inspired and fulfilled by different cultures and the rich beauty of foreign lands. In 2008, she moved to Mérida, the capital city of Yucatan, Mexico, to restore a 170 year-old carriage house whose only salvageable remains were the cement tile floors. When the restoration was complete and the floors were polished to their original glory, Dana became enamored with this affordable, customizable and sustainable material. Determined to expose cement tile to a wider audience, she set forth to design her own modern collection.

She now lives in Red Bank, NJ with her husband, Guy. With her interior design experience and his contracting skills, they renovate homes together, always finding new and inspiring ways to install cement tile.

Anna Burrous

Anna BurrousAnna’s lifelong passion for creating visual stories began at the age of two, scribbling with colored pencils under her father’s drafting board in the basement of their Greenville, South Carolina home. An advertising degree from the University of South Carolina landed her a job in the cutthroat world of media sales, but she soon realized her creative drive wasn’t being fulfilled and made the decision to return to school to study graphic design and photography.

Anna is inspired by the energy of people who have a genuine zest and appreciation for life. Her work reflects the good fortune of past travel experiences, unique architecture and natural environments. She focuses on keeping an open mind and loves searching for a unique angle in every project. Welcoming new techniques and methods, Anna’s ultimate goal is to keep the eye intrigued and guessing.
