This chart provides general selection guidance, not product certification. Finished brass/cement tiles have not been independently tested for wet DCOF, abrasion, breaking strength or other composite performance. A cement-tile sealer does not waterproof an assembly or necessarily protect brass from tarnishing. Confirm project requirements with a qualified installer.

Handmade Characteristics

Handmade cement tile may vary naturally in shade, tone, texture and dimension. Exposed brass may tarnish, develop a patina, or change in sheen over time; light scratching and wear may be visible. Inspect and blend tiles from multiple boxes before setting.

The manufacturer confirms that uncoated brass inlay sits flush with the cement surface, with anchoring legs extending into the tile body to help secure it. The brass alloy composition is awaiting supplier confirmation. Refer to each product listing for dimensions, thickness, box quantity and coverage.

Installation & Care

Use an installer experienced with handmade cement tile and decorative metal inlay. For suitable interior applications, confirm substrate, setting materials, grout and movement joints; test sealing, grout cleanup and protection procedures on spare tiles. General cement tile installation instructions may not address all brass-specific requirements.

Clean with a mild pH-neutral cleaner confirmed compatible with both cement and brass and use soft, nonabrasive tools. Avoid acids, strongly alkaline cleaners, ammonia, and routine abrasive cleaning. Because the brass is uncoated, natural oxidation or patina may develop. For restoration, the manufacturer recommends carefully treating the brass only with #400-grit sandpaper; this may scratch adjacent cement or damage sealer. Test first on a spare tile and contact Cement Tile Shop before restoration of installed tile. Do not use metal polishes or chemical tarnish removers without confirmed compatibility.
